MY WORKS
Hello! My name is Mallory Daugherty and I am a recent graduate from the University of Montevallo. In December 2008, I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art as well as a minor in French. Thanks for checking out my portfolio site; please use the left and right arrows below to view my work!

Creative Advertisement Fall 2008
This mock advertisement for Sephora was created to be marketed to tween and teen girls ages 12-18. The tween market alone spends $500 million annually on beauty products. ( NPD Group, Inc ) This colorful, candy inspired advertisement will remind target audiences what makes Sephora stores unique: its diverse selection of beauty lines and products in which each customer is welcome to test and try out before purchasing. Created using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Recipe Layout
Fall 2008
I designed this magazine layout page, photos, and copy for a favorite recipe of mine using Adobe Photoshop.

“Etre, Vivre, Souhaiter, Mourir", Spring 2008
This collage piece was created for a Large Format Digital Printing course. Our assignment was to choose any four words, search for them in the Google image search and create an interesting composition in Adobe Photoshop with the images found. I chose the French verbs: être (to be), vivre (to live), souhaiter (to wish) and mourir (to die) as my four words. This work is 11”x17” printed.

“Inés” Linoleum relief print, Spring 2008
This print is based on a photograph I took at Mission Santa Inés in Solvang, California.

"Growth" Flash Animation, Fall 2007
Featured Music: "I Gaer" by Sigur Ros

“Lotus” 13.5”x 18”
Spring 2008
This digital photograph is one in a series I created for a project in the Large Format Digital Printing course. For this series, I decided to explore the relationship between artificial, man-made materials and natural, organic life. I digitally photographed plants that grew through or around man-made constructions such as asphalt and concrete. The plants represent both strength and fragility as they find a way to overcome an attempt at their destruction. Even though mankind is continually covering the earth with its own artificial ground, nature is able to delicately break through.

“Three” 13.5”x 18”
Spring 2008
This is a continuation of the series from the previous work.

Layout design featuring beauty products, Fall 2008
This mock-magazine layout is targeted towards young women and features makeup and beauty products specifically for the fall 2008 season. It was created using Adobe Photoshop.

“L’arbre de livres,” 22’’x30’’ Spring 2008
This hand-modified ink-jet print was created using Adobe Illustrator, watercolor, colored pencils, and embroidery thread. It continues my artistic concept of exploring the relationship between the artificial and the natural. Wrapped within the trees’ roots are several books, seeming as if the tree had sprouted from the books’ pages. I was inspired to create this image by a small passage in the novel, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer in which a minor character buries his books after reading them.
